Build a business that doesn’t rely on you carrying everything.
You know you need something to change. You may not know whether that means better boundaries, clearer processes, another person, or someone experienced stepping in beside you.
That’s where I come in.
I help Australian solo and small business owners work out what support they actually need – and put the right support around the business, the work and the human running it.
You don’t need to have the answer before you ask for help.
Perhaps you’re wondering:
- Do I need a VA, an employee, a specialist – or something else entirely?
- Why does everything still come back to me?
- Is my current support still right for the business?
- What can I hand over without creating more work for myself?
- Who can keep things moving while I take a proper break?
- How do I find someone I can trust?
Most support problems don’t begin with a job title. They begin with a business owner saying, “I can’t keep doing all of this myself”.
Before you write another job ad, add another system or convince yourself to just push through, let’s look at what is really going on.
Businesses change. Life changes. Capacity changes.
Your support should be able to change too.
Meet Amber
I see the business – and the person carrying it.
I’m Amber Field, a Business Support Strategist with more than twenty years of experience across executive support, operations, customer and member experience, recruitment, retail leadership, administration and community building.
I’m usually the person people call when they know something is not working but cannot see the full shape of the problem yet.
I listen, ask direct questions, spot the patterns hiding underneath the task list, and help turn the mess into decisions you can actually make.
I’m not here to sell you another hire, another platform or a perfect five-step system. Sometimes you need another person. Sometimes you need clearer expectations, a better boundary or a simpler way of working. Sometimes you need permission to stop carrying work that should never have lived with you in the first place.
The answer depends on your business, your responsibilities and your capacity.
Better support starts with better decisions.
Good support is not just about getting more tasks off your plate.
It is about knowing:
-
what needs to be done
-
who is best placed to do it
-
what a healthy working relationship requires
-
what your business can realistically afford
-
what should remain human
-
where technology can genuinely help
-
and what no longer needs to happen at all
That is why I look at the whole support picture before recommending the next move.
Support evolves as your business evolves.
What kind of help do you need right now?
You don’t need to squeeze your business into a rigid package. Start with the situation that sounds most like yours.
I’m not sure what support I need.
You know the current way of working is no longer sustainable, but the solution is not obvious.
In a one-to-one Support Strategy Session, we’ll look at what you’re carrying, where the pressure is building, what support already exists, and what needs to stay, change, stop or be handed over.
This may include support mapping, a capacity review, delegation planning, reviewing an existing support relationship, or working out whether you need another person at all.
You’ll leave with a practical roadmap shaped around your actual business and capacity – not a generic list of things you “should” be doing.
I know I need someone.
I just don’t know who.
Finding support can become a job in itself: writing the brief, searching through directories and Facebook groups, comparing people who all sound similar, and trying to judge who will actually fit your business.
I help you get clear on the role, the kind of person you need and what a healthy working relationship should look like. Then I connect you with suitable people from within the broader support ecosystem.
That might be an EA, customer experience specialist, bookkeeper, creative assistant, community manager or another trusted provider. The goal is not to fill a seat. It is to find support that makes sense for your business and the humans involved.
I need an experienced person to step in.
Sometimes a roadmap isn’t enough. You need someone who can walk into the business, understand what matters and keep the important things moving.
Support may be ongoing for the right business, or project-based for a defined season.
Think of the project-based option as an experienced business babysitter: someone you trust to mind the moving parts while you’re away, stretched, or dealing with a period of change.
This is deliberately limited, relationship-led support. I don’t take on a long list of businesses and hope everybody fits.
I want people to do business alongside.
Operation HQ
Running a small business can be lonely – especially when the people around you don’t understand why one email, one client decision or one unfinished task can take up so much room in your head.
HQ is an online village for Australian business owners who want genuine connection, practical business support and a place to work things through with people who get it.
It brings together co-working, planning, useful conversations, shared learning and opportunities to connect with other business owners and support providers.
You won’t be expected to perform, keep up or pretend everything is going brilliantly. You can turn up as the person who is actually running the business.
What it feels like to have Amber in your corner
The memo for business owners who want support to work better.
You don’t need to work out the whole support plan alone.
If you know the current way of working cannot continue but you are unsure what should change first, start with a Support Strategy Session.
We’ll look at the business as it is now, work out what support would genuinely help, and give you a practical next move.
