Not Always.
Let’s talk about a myth that’s quietly messing with a lot of business owners, especially those who are already stretched thin.
The belief that if you need support, it has to come from inside your business. A VA. A social media manager. An OBM. A copywriter. A graphic designer.
Truth bomb: Not all support belongs in your business.
Sometimes the smartest delegation decision you can make is hiring a cleaner, not a contractor.

Support isn’t just about business tasks. It’s about capacity.
You can outsource all the newsletters, all the admin, all the Asana updates you like, but if you’re still juggling school pick-up, feeding yourself (or others), running a household, managing doctor appointments, and trying to stay vaguely human… No amount of “streamlining your workflow” is going to give you your brain back.
Because this isn’t a productivity problem. It’s a capacity problem.
Delegation isn’t always where you think it is.
Over the past few years, I’ve supported people who thought they needed:
- A VA to handle their emails
- A copywriter to batch their blog posts
- A social media manager to “stay visible”
But once we slowed down and actually looked at where the pressure was building, what they really needed was:
- A meal delivery subscription
- A babysitter one afternoon a week
- A cleaner every fortnight
- Someone else to do the school run twice a week
- A boundary that said “I don’t work Fridays anymore”
And the result?
More mental space.
More time to think, not just do.
More energy to show up in their business without resentment.
You don’t have to earn the right to ease.
This industry loves to celebrate outsourcing, but only the kind that looks “professional.”
The kind that’s Instagrammable.
The kind that keeps the hustle culture machine turning.
But there is nothing more powerful than a business owner saying:
“I don’t need to be across everything all the time. I just need to not be the only one doing everything everywhere.”
Support should serve the whole human, not just the CEO title.
If you’re a care-juggling, chronically tired, low-capacity founder (or you’re just in a hard season of life), then the support that changes everything might not live in your inbox.
It might show up in a home-cooked meal you didn’t make.
Or an empty laundry basket.
Or a cleaner who comes once a month and makes you feel less like you’re drowning in dust and undone chores.
And guess what? That’s just as valid as hiring an OBM or handing off your content calendar.
If you’ve been feeling the pull to get support, but business-based outsourcing feels overwhelming or out of reach, maybe it’s time to zoom out.
What would it look like to support yourself… in life?
Because the right support is the one that makes space for you to breathe again.
